Service Description

This is a 1-day (6 hour) Ofqual regulated course, consisting of both practical and theoretical learning. The qualification is designed for learners (eg. parents, guardians & family members) with a responsibility for the care of children and babies and provides knowledge and skills to deal with a range of paediatric first aid conditions and incidents. The purpose of the qualification is for the learner to attain the knowledge and practical competence required to deal with a range of Paediatric First Aid situations. If you have a professional interest, i.e. you are a child-minder or school teacher, etc, then this course partly fulfils the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage require you to have 12 hours of paediatric first aid training, so the 2-Day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid would be required to fulfil their requirements. This 6 hour qualification also makes up the first half of the 12-hour course. Course content includes: - Responsibilities and reporting - Resuscitation - Dealing with an unresponsive casualty - Minor injuries - Assessment of the situation - Epilepsy - Wounds and bleeding - Anaphylaxis and Shock Assessment & certification: The qualification is assessed both through practical demonstration and oral questioning. A learner must successfully pass a practical assessment to achieve the qualification. There is no grading of the assessment; learners pass or are referred. The qualification and certification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years. Numbers: A maximum of 12 students are allowed and must be a minimum of 16 years of age. *We have both Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance and both hold enhanced DBS certificates.
